The SA series was designed to be an excellent sounding sub woofer that is equally at home sealed or ported. We feel that the SA series is one of the best woofers available in it's price category and will satisfy the needs of a wide variety of users ranging from bass-heads to audiophiles!
The SA line was designed to be the centerpiece of the Sundown Audio sub woofer lineup -- the line to which all of their other lines are compared. They started with an FEA optimized motor design capable of 19mm of one-way Klippel verified excursion and significantly more x-mech (maximum mechanical excursion). This motor was mated to a top quality double layer nomex spider, an SPL competition grade paper cone, and a strong foam surround capable of handling the excursion and force generated by the motor structure. The motor also features dual Faraday rings (shorting rings) to reduce inductive distortion. At Sundown Audio this still was not enough so they designed a highly optimized voice coil cooling system that ensures that an SA series woofer will never over-heat when used anywhere close to it's rated power level. This system allows the 2.5" coil to match and exceed the thermal performance of many 3" coil drivers on the market today.
The SA series is also gaining popularity in SPL competitions due to their excellent voice coil cooling and rugged, durable construction with several customers achieving output well over 150 dB!

Being that I am now older with 3 kids, I wanted a decent sub, nothing crazy. I'm running a Fox Acoustics Box in my quad cab Dodge with 1.55 C/F per sub and a Pioneer GM-9601 amp pushing about a 1,000 watts to them and O.M.G.... I'm floored... Way more than I expected! these not only produce amazing bass, but, they also punch and and can fill any gap with any type of music I play. These are great subs and highly recommend them!

by sully on 8/16/2016after a LOT of researching online and in CA stores, I finally pulled the trigger on these subs. and oh my word they absolutely POUND. but not only do they pound, they are clean and crisp. these subs provide one of the best combo's of SQ and SPL in a sub that I have ever seen. i have them in a ported box at 1.75^3 per, tuned to 34hz, powered by an SCV1500d wired at 1ohm each. And they will absolutely blow your mind with how LOUD and CLEAN they are. So stop shopping and buy this sub, you will not regret it!!
