CDX-FM687 Pioneer 6-disc Add-on CD Changer

Happy with your vehicle's radio, but longing for multi-disc CD playback? Pioneer's CDX-FM687 6-disc add-on CD changer will play your CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and standard CDs — through your FM tuner! The double-floating, anti-vibration system protects the changer from skipping, so you enjoy flawless playback. A wired display/controller and a wireless remote are included for easy operation.

Pioneer's add-on CD changer installs conveniently — thanks to its built-in FM modulator, there's one less box to mount. The changer can be mounted at any angle (from horizontal to vertical), and doesn't require any modifications to your car. Output level adjustment adjusts CD level to match your radio, so there's no annoying volume jump when you switch between the two.

Built-In FM Modulator: For increased installation flexibility, the compact changer has the FM modulator built-in.

Modulation Frequencies: The modulator has 12 FM modulation frequencies. You can select the following modulation frequencies from the wired remote/display unit: 87.9, 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.1, 89.3, 89.5, 89.7, 89.9 or 90.1MHz.

Double-Floating Anti-Vibration System: This changer has a double-floating anti-vibration system for skip-resistant performance.

CD Text: When playing CD Text encoded CDs, the CD Text information will be shown in the wired remote display.

Disc Title Memory: This changer offers 100-disc title memory. You can give each disc a title up to 10 characters in length.

Instant Track Selection (ITS): This function lets you program and play the tracks you want. Using Automatic Disc Program Selection, you can program up to 100 discs. Up to 99 tracks can be programmed and played in any order for each disc. During ITS play, both disc and track number searches are performed only on programmed tracks.

Repeat Play: The changer can repeat the current track or the current disc. Under normal playing conditions, the changer will automatically repeat all discs in the magazine.

Random Play: The changer can play all tracks on the current disc in random order or all tracks on all discs in random order.

Mounting Angles: You can install this changer at any angle from 0 to 90 degrees. There are angle switching dials on both sides of the unit that must be set to agree with the mounting angle of the unit.

Source Level Adjustment: A source level adjuster allows you to match the CD output level with the FM level. You can select one of seven different levels. The adjustment must be made from the wired remote/display unit.

Pre-Emphasis Selector: A pre-emphasis selector allows you to increase the amount of treble using the wired remote/display unit or the wireless remote.

CD Compatibility: This unit will play prerecorded audio CDs, finalized CD-R discs and finalized CD-RW discs.

Compatibility with Pioneer Receivers: This changer can be connected to a Pioneer IP-Bus-compatible head unit with CD-changer controls via an optional cable (item #130CDE5773). This connection will bypass the built-in FM modulator and provide a direct audio connection to the head unit. It will also provide direct control of the changer from the head unit, no longer requiring the wired remote/display unit.

Controls/Display

Controls On CXC1169 Wired Remote/Display Unit:

• Power/Adjust: Turns power on/off and accesses settings mode
• P.Mode: Selects repeat, random, ITS play and pre-emphasis
• Pause/Title In: Pauses playback and activates disc title input mode
• Disc Up/Down: Selects discs, modulation frequency and disc title characters
• Track/FF&REV: Select tracks, select disc title character input position and output level

Display: The display shows disc number, track number, elapsed track playing time, repeat play mode, random play mode and play indicator (spinning CD icon).

Controls On CXC1104 Wireless Remote:

• Power/Adjust: Turns power on/off and accesses settings mode
• Mode/Random: Selects repeat, random, ITS play and pre-emphasis
• +/- Buttons: Select discs, modulation frequency and disc title characters
• |<</>>| Buttons: Select tracks, select disc title character input position and output level
• DISP (display): Switches display mode and scrolls through CD Text information
• List/Select: Lists disc titles on display and selects title from list for playback
• ITS/ITS.P: Activates ITS playback and programming
• ITS.C: Used to erase ITS programming (erase single track or entire program)
• Pause: Pauses disc playback

Connections

Connections On Back Panel Of Changer:

• Power: 3-pin male input for supplied power wiring harness
• Output: Female mini-jack output which accepts the connector on the RF output cable. The RF output cable then attaches to the antenna switching unit.
• Display: 5-pin male input for wired remote/display unit
• IP-Bus Output: 11-pin male input for connection to a Pioneer CD-changer-controller head unit (requires optional cable 130CDE5773)
